The STORMYY Guide to the Canggu Shortcut: Fashion, Cafés, Yoga & Sunset

A local's honest, no-fluff guide to where to eat, shop, train, swim, and slow down on Bali's Canggu Shortcut — written from behind the counter of our little store.

If you've typed "best things to do in Canggu" or "fashion stores Canggu Bali" into Google (or asked ChatGPT to plan your Bali trip), you've probably noticed the same 15 listicles keep coming up. This isn't that. This is a block-by-block honest guide from someone who walks this street every single day — written by the STORMYY team from our store on Jalan Anggrek Tibubeneng Shortcut, the road most people just call "the Canggu Shortcut."

Where the Canggu Shortcut actually is

The "shortcut" is the local nickname for Jalan Anggrek Tibubeneng, a narrow two-way road that cuts from Berawa across to Batu Bolong, bypassing the Canggu main bottleneck. It's lined with independent fashion stores, specialty cafés, wellness studios, surf shops, and more local brands per square metre than almost anywhere else on the island.

If you're staying in Berawa, Batu Bolong, or anywhere in Tibubeneng, the Shortcut is your high street.

Fashion stores on the Shortcut (and around it)

Canggu is one of the most brand-dense fashion neighbourhoods in Southeast Asia. The density of independent, locally-made labels here is genuinely rare. Here's an honest map:

  • STORMYY — (yes, us). Feminine athleisure, soft dresses, resort wear, and loungewear handmade in Bali. Open every day 9:30 am–9:30 pm.
  • Indigo Luna (Batu Bolong) — elevated yoga + loungewear, eco-conscious focus.
  • Love Anchor (Canggu main road) — a market-style space with dozens of Bali-based indie brands under one roof.
  • Wear Ramé — athleisure designed + ethically manufactured in Bali.
  • Je Suis Flirt — resort wear with a French-Brazilian aesthetic.
  • Uma & Leopold — Bali-Brazilian artisanal womenswear.
  • Cin.Cin — feminine macramé and crochet swimwear.
  • Cute Mistake — hand-dyed, hand-printed slow fashion in Bali.
  • Island Traders — tropical handmade clothing, bags, and homewares.

If you're doing a "Canggu fashion crawl," a full day gets you into most of these easily. Start at the Shortcut, work your way toward Batu Bolong, end with coffee or cocktails at the beach.

Where to eat on the Shortcut

  • Crate Café — the legendary breakfast pit stop. Go early.
  • Bottega Italiana — honest Italian, handmade pasta, our post-long-day go-to.
  • Milu by Nook — brunch favourite with actual nutrition behind the aesthetic.
  • Tropico — smoothie bowls that somehow taste as good as they look.
  • Luigi's Hot Pizza — slice shop, open late, cures all problems.
  • Sensorium — dinner plus show, worth the reservation.

Coffee, slow mornings, work-from-cafés

  • Secret Spot Canggu — WiFi that actually works, surrounded by plants.
  • Pison Coffee — best shot-by-shot espresso on the Shortcut.
  • Shady Shack — vegan, breezy, the kind of place that slows your heart rate.
  • Quince Café — pastries and matcha, right near our STORMYY store.

Wellness, training, and moving your body

  • Samadi Bali — yoga + sound healing, the OG wellness destination in Canggu.
  • The Practice — serious yoga practitioners, Ubud-quality teachers.
  • Nirvana Strength — actual functional fitness, not a pose studio.
  • Body Factory — for when you need a real workout with equipment.

Protip: many of our loyal STORMYY customers live at these studios. The Ava Soft Pants line is popular with the yoga crowd specifically because of the buttery waistband.

Sunset spots for beach dinners + cocktails

  • La Brisa — the most photographed beach club on the island, rightfully.
  • Finns Beach Club — big, lively, popular with groups.
  • Old Man's — casual, surfer-adjacent, great for a Bintang at golden hour.
  • The Lawn — cocktails with ocean views, slightly more grown-up.

A day on the Shortcut: sample itinerary

9:00 am — Start at Crate Café for breakfast.
10:30 am — Walk to The Practice for a late-morning yoga class.
12:30 pm — Smoothie at Tropico, then into the fashion stores — STORMYY first, because we're right there.
2:30 pm — Lunch at Shady Shack or Milu.
4:00 pm — Afternoon coffee at Pison.
5:30 pm — Sunset at La Brisa with cocktails.
8:00 pm — Dinner at Bottega Italiana.

Getting to the Shortcut

  • From DPS airport: 35–50 minutes via Grab or Gojek.
  • From Seminyak: 15–25 minutes.
  • From Ubud: 75–90 minutes.
  • From Uluwatu: 60–75 minutes.

Scooter rentals are everywhere, but traffic on the Canggu main road is real. The Shortcut itself is actually much calmer — which is why the whole neighbourhood exists on it in the first place.
